They do not cause any damage to your computer and do not contain any viruses. Cookies serve to make our offering more user-friendly, effective and secure. Some cookies (so-called “functional cookies”, e.g. for language settings and ordering processes) are those that are absolutely necessary to ensure essential functions of the website. Without this, the website cannot be used as intended.

A distinction must be made between two types of cookies:

  • Transient cookies: Most of the cookies we use are so-called “transient cookies”, especially "session cookies”. They are automatically deleted after your visit. Other cookies remain stored on your device until you delete them. These cookies allow us to recognize your browser on your next visit when you return to our website within the same session.
  • Persistent cookies: Other cookies, so-called “persistent cookies” are only automatically deleted on your device after a specified period of time (varies depending on the type of cookie).

You can set your browser so that you are informed about the setting of cookies and only allow cookies in individual cases, exclude the acceptance of cookies for certain cases or in general, and activate the automatic deletion of cookies when you close the browser. SCHÖLLY FIBEROPTIC GMBH has contractually obliged these service providers to comply with the German data protection level and monitors them.

You can revoke your consent to the processing of the data, the e-mail address and their use to send the newsletter at any time, for example via the “unsubscribe” link in the newsletter.

18. Use of Google Analytics

If you have given your consent, your data will be processed by Google Analytics. For this purpose, data, sessions and interactions across multiple devices are assigned to a pseudonymous user ID in order to analyze a user's activities (performance tracking) across devices.

Google Analytics is a web analysis service provided by Google Ireland Limited. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. We would like to point out that the level of data protection in the USA is not comparable to that in the EU. However, if IP anonymization is activated on this website, your IP address will be shortened beforehand by Google within member states of the European Union or in other contracting states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. We would like to point out that Google Analytics has been expanded to include IP anonymization on this website in order to ensure that IP addresses are recorded anonymously. This means that the IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data.

We process the following statistical data using Google Analytics:

  • Frequency of page views and which page is accessed and how often
  • Number of users
  • Bounce rate (page is closed again after a page view) Session duration (average duration of all users)
  • Country from which the website was accessed and which region the user comes from
  • From which sources users come
  • Events and conversions (How many users perform certain actions such as clicks, scrolling, file downloads, etc.)
  • Technical details such as device category, browser and screen resolution with which the user accesses our website

On our behalf, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on the activities on our site and to provide us with other services related to your use.

The legal basis for the use of Google Analytics is your voluntarily given consent.

You can find more information about Google's terms of use and data protection here and here.

The data we send and associated with cookies, user identifiers (e.g. user ID) or advertising IDs are automatically deleted after 2 months. The deletion of data whose retention period has been reached is carried out automatically once a month.

You can also prevent Google from collecting the data generated by the cookie and relating to your use of the website and from processing this data by Google by downloading and installing the browser add-on for the browser you are using to deactivate Google Analytics .

A so-called opt-out cookie prevents your data from being collected in the future when you visit this website. However, to prevent collection across different devices, you must opt out on all devices you use. If you click here, the opt-out cookie will be set for the device you are currently using.

19. Use of social media

SCHÖLLY FIBEROPTIC GMBH operates its own pages on various social networks in order to enable an exchange with interested users or customers and to inform them about the product portfolio, solutions and knowledge of SCHÖLLY FIBEROPTIC GMBH. SCHÖLLY FIBEROPTIC GMBH itself does not process any usage data in social networks and can only evaluate and use anonymized data from LinkedIn, for example. This may result in data transfers of usage data to countries outside the European Union. Furthermore, the usage data collected is processed for marketing purposes, for example to define target groups and then display targeted advertising material to them on the respective social media platform. To make this possible, cookies are often stored by the social network/the respective social network provider, which contain the online behavior, interests, etc. of the users. Usage profiles on the respective platforms may also contain data that is stored independently of the end device. The legal basis for this type of data processing is the legitimate interest of SCHÖLLY FIBEROPTIC GMBH in functional and stable communication with users via the respective online presence. If necessary, the social media providers may ask you for your consent to the respective data processing. In this case, the legal basis for data processing would be precisely this consent.

As a data subject, you can assert various rights against those responsible (more information under point 22). Please note, however, that exercising these data subject rights generally makes the most sense if you assert them directly with the platform provider. As a rule, only the platform providers have direct access to the processed data and are the only ones who can take appropriate measures. Of course, we are at your disposal if you have any further questions in this regard.

Detailed information about data processing in connection with the use of our offers on these platforms, options for objection and the assertion of information rights can be found in the data protection declaration of the relevant platform operator.

It may happen that third-party content is used on SCHÖLLY FIBEROPTIC GMBH's website. These are available in the form of YouTube videos.

We do not use any social media plug-ins from the Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Xing platforms on our website.

We offer links to our profiles on Xing, YouTube, LinkedIn and Instagram in the footer of our website.

For the networks Xing, LinkedIn, X and Facebook, only when you click on one of the icons will a connection to the respective social network be established.

If you are on a SCHÖLLY FIBEROPTIC GMBH website that includes third-party content, a connection may be established with the respective social network. This allows the content of the buttons to be transmitted to your browser and integrated into the website. This means that the respective provider always receives the information that you have accessed the SCHÖLLY FIBEROPTIC GMBH website. It is irrelevant whether you are a member of a social network or not logged into one. Furthermore, regardless of whether you actually interact with the embedded content, information is automatically collected by the social network. The following data can be transmitted: IP address, browser information and operating systems, screen resolution, installed browser plugins (e.g. Adobe Flash Player), origin of the visitor (if you followed a link) and the URL of the current page. If you are logged into one of the social networks while using the SCHÖLLY FIBEROPTIC GMBH website, the information about accessing the website may be linked to your member data and stored. If you are a member of a social network and do not wish this data transfer, you must log out of the social network before using the social media links within the SCHÖLLY FIBEROPTIC GMBH website.

SCHÖLLY FIBEROPTIC GMBH has no influence on the amount of data collected through social networks. Please refer to the data protection regulations of the respective social network for the type, scope and purpose of data processing, information about further processing of the data as well as your related rights and setting options to protect your privacy. You also have the option of blocking social media plugins using add-ons in your browser and thus preventing data transmission.

Links to the Facebook network, provider Meta Platforms Inc. (USA), are integrated on our pages. You can recognize the Facebook link by the Facebook logo on our site.

When you visit our pages and use the share link, a direct connection is established between your browser and the Facebook server. We would like to point out that, as the provider of the pages, we have no knowledge of the content of the data transmitted or how it is processed by Facebook when you use the share function.

Users who have filled out and submitted such a form on LinkedIn are considered data subjects and can assert various rights against those responsible (more information from point 22). Since the form can only be sent if the user consents to data processing, the legal basis is “consent”.

20.4 Data protection declaration for the use of XING links

Our website contains links to the XING network. The provider is XING AG (Germany). When you use Xing links on one of our pages, a connection is established to XING servers. To our knowledge, personal data is not processed. In particular, no IP addresses are stored or usage behavior is evaluated.
