When it comes to resuscitation, every second counts

According to the German Resuscitation Register, at least 60,000 people in Germany suffer a cardiovascular arrest outside of a hospital every year.

What is shocking is that in 65 percent of cases this happens at home and in only a good half of the cases (51 percent) is resuscitation started by laypeople. Immediate action is crucial: after just 3 to 5 minutes without blood flow, the brain begins to die, and it takes an average of 8 to 9 minutes for the emergency services to arrive.

The good news: CPR is easier than many people think. Just a few simple steps can save lives in an emergency. This makes it all the more important that we all familiarize ourselves with the basics of cardiopulmonary resuscitation. For this reason, we at SCHÖLLY had the opportunity to practice performing resuscitation.
