Near-infrared fluorescence imaging in endoscopy
Near-infrared fluorescence imaging (NIR FI) enables the visualization of tissues and structures in medical endoscopy through the use of fluorescent dyes such as indocyanine green (ICG). This technology utilizes near-infrared light to generate fluorescence signals, which are then captured and displayed in real-time.
NIR FI is frequently used in minimally invasive surgery to assess tissue perfusion and identify anatomical structures such as bile ducts and lymph nodes during oncological procedures.
Structure and function of a near-infrared fluorescence imaging system
A system for fluorescence imaging applications consists of a camera control unit that visualizes white light and near-infrared light, a light source and light guides that provide NIR light in addition to visible light, a camera head and endoscope that are sensitive in both the white light spectrum and the NIR spectrum.
NIR FI IMAGING MODES
Our NIR-FI technologies offer various imaging modes to display fluorescence signals – from pure contrast to color or intensity scales, each in grayscale or with an RGB / white light image.

NIR FI Contrast
The NIR fluorescence is displayed in white and all other areas of the image appear dark.

NIR FI Green
A white light image is displayed in grayscale with NIR fluorescence appearing overlaid in green.

NIR FI Intensity
White light image is displayed in grayscale with NIR fluorescence indicated and overlaid with a multi-color intensity scale.

NIR FI Green+
The NIR fluorescence is shown in green, while the rest of the image is displayed in natural white light (RGB).

NIR FI Intensity+
The NIR fluorescence is displayed according to a multi-colored intensity scale, while the rest of the image is displayed in white light (RGB).

The NIR FI imaging modes NIR FI Contrast, NIR FI Green and NIR FI Intensity are integrated into our NIR FI OEM Products with FlexiVision technology, allowing you to expand your portfolio.

The NIR FI imaging modes NIR FI Green+ and NIR FI Intensity+ are based on FlexiStage technology and are available in addition to the existing NIR FI imaging modes for your OEM solution with our FlexiStage camera platform.
