Whether chatter marks, cavities or burr formation

The FlexiVision 100 reveals hard-to-identify defects in spray nozzles

Surface defects prevent the flawless function of spray nozzles

The production of spray nozzles for the automotive industry depends on precise mechanical work in the micrometer range. In automobile production, the spray nozzles are used for exact dosage and spreading of fluids. Inside the nozzles there are fine channels and boreholes for the feed of compressed air and materials, which can be opened or closed according to dosage strength. In order to assure a uniform dosage and atomization, the channels must be free of any surface defects such as chatter marks, burrs or cavities.

With conventional endoscope cameras not all defects can be identified

To fulfill the strict quality requirements in the automotive industry, the manufacturer systematically examines the channels and especially the boreholes of the spray nozzles. Small diameters of less than 3 mm, but also the formation of burr require a good camera technology for the endoscopic inspection. Burr formation is insufficiently displayed by many camera systems, due to too less resolution or less camera sensitivity. The FlexiVision 100 can solve just exactly this problem. With its full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels), it guarantees especially exact image reproduction, which shows, for example, chatter marks, cavities or burr formation in excellent detail. Conventional industrial cameras have very often a resolution of only 720 x 580 pixels. For better identification of defects, the FlexiVision 100 uses so-called video algorithms.

Detailed images and useful software functions of the FlexiVision 100 support the user

With full HD image quality and the individual adjustments by video algorithms, defects inside components can be more quickly and reliably determined. Video algorithms can enhance deviations that may point to defects. These possibilities differentiate the FlexiVision 100 from its competition. It is especially suitable for highly demanding inspection tasks. For documentation, images can be quickly and easily stored on a USB stick. In combination with the FlexiScope 3 camera handpiece, the proven FlexiScope probes, available from a diameter of 0.7 mm, can be attached. In addition the FlexiVision 100 is compatible with many endoscope systems. By using the HD camera head, common endoscopes and fiberscopes with DIN ocular can be connected.

Faster inspections with less reject

The full HD resolution and video algorithms of the inspection system provide images with a high degree of detail. The employee in the quality assurance is more confident in his decision, can test more nozzles per time unit and can reduce the reject rate. With the video algorithms, it is possible to create early prognoses by means of color enhancement. Even the tiniest material deviations can be emphasized and can show the start of a deterioration process of the machining tool. In addition, the documentation of inspections can be used to analyze and eliminate internal sources of error.
