Ceremonial farewell of the robotics production team

Schölly Fiberoptic GmbH bid an extraordinary farewell on November 30, 2020. A strategic decision made one and a half years ago has now been completed with the farewell of the last members of the robotics production team. They all start at their new employer Intuitive Surgical in Emmendingen, Germany.

In a festive hour, Regula Schölly paid tribute to the special nature of this moment and presented everyone with a farewell gift. The departure of an entire product line is emotionally difficult to cope with and the transition demanded a high degree of flexibility and discipline from everyone. But the unity with which everyone worked towards the same goal was worth it.
Thus, in this difficult year in Denzlingen, Germany, not only the ambitious production figures of Intuitive were met for the last time, but also the course was set for the support and further development of the "non-robotics" division. A decision that was not easy for the management in 2019, but which was taken at the right time, thus enabling a successful future for both companies.
Since the announcement in July 2019 that Intuitive Surgical would take over the robotic endoscope business of Schölly Fiberoptic GmbH, the robotics-specific departments from Development, Internal Logistics, Production, Supply Chain, Quality Management and Administration have been transferred successively and under permanent supply capability. After completion of the transfer, Schölly employs around 350 people at its headquarters in Denzlingen, Germany. The cooperation between the two companies in the field of robotics lasted over 20 years and will now be continued on a significantly reduced scale.
